Company History

The Youth in Agriculture Initiative (YAI) was established after recognizing the gap in Uganda’s agriculture sector, particularly where youth are concerned. YAI was co-founded by Emily Kennedy, Olweny Charles Mulozi and Cosmas Alfred Butele – three capable individuals with a common interest of re-engaging youth in the agriculture sector. The three met in 2015, while participating in a field learning visit in Eastern and Northern Uganda, which focused on the agricultural extension processes in the country. Seeing the missing link between the youth and these current policies, they began to collaborate on innovative ways to address the growing problem of food production in Uganda – the decreased interest of the youth.
